Afghanistan Thrash Zimbabwe by 158 Runs as Atal Century and Rashid Magic Light Up Abu Dhabi

Afghanistan stormed to a crushing 158-run victory over Zimbabwe in the UAE ODI tri-series in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, keeping the race for the final wide open.

Opener Sediqullah Atal led the way with a superb century, scoring 102 from 110 balls, while Ibrahim Zadran added a fluent 90. The pair put on a 140-run stand that laid the platform for Afghanistan's total of 294. Zimbabwe's bowlers fought back late — Ernest Masuku and Brad Evans took three wickets each — but the damage was done.

Zimbabwe's chase never got going. They slipped to 43 for 4, and only Sikandar Raza, with 48, offered real resistance. Rashid Khan then ripped through the middle order, taking 4 wickets for just 17 runs in eight overs, as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 136 in 38.4 overs.

The result was a cruel twist for Zimbabwe: had they reached 196, they would have sealed a place in the tri-series final. Instead, all three teams — including Bangladesh — still have a shot at qualifying for Sunday's final. Atal was named player of the match for his match-defining hundred.
