Apple 'Pro and Tell' Event Tomorrow: First Touchscreen MacBook Pro Expected

Apple's "Pro and Tell" event takes place on Wednesday, October 28, in Los Angeles, and the headline act is expected to be the first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with OLED displays and touch support, a first for any Mac. The redesigned laptops are also tipped to get a Dynamic Island cutout in place of the current notch, along with thinner and lighter bodies.
The new touchscreen models are expected to keep Apple's M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, unveiled in March 2026, meaning buyers would largely be paying for the screen rather than faster performance. Reports put the 14-inch touchscreen model at around $2,800 to $3,000 and the 16-inch version at $3,300 to $3,500, compared with $2,499 and $2,999 for the current M5 Pro models. A separate baseline 14-inch MacBook Pro with the newer M6 chip is also expected, keeping the existing design without touch or OLED, while a refreshed 24-inch iMac with an M6 chip, Wi-Fi 7 and new colours is tipped as well.
Unlike a traditional keynote, the October 28 showcase is an invitation-only, hands-on event for press and creators, with details shared through press releases. Sales of the new machines are expected to begin on November 6. For shoppers, the advice from analysts is simple: wait for Apple's real pricing before committing, since today's M5 Pro models should perform much the same for less.
