Apple Unveils OLED iPad Mini With A20 Pro Chip — Price, Release Date and What

Apple has unveiled its biggest iPad mini update ever, giving its smallest tablet an OLED screen for the first time. Announced on Monday, ahead of the company's “Pro and tell” event on October 28, the new iPad mini features a larger 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, Apple's new A20 Pro chip and an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance — a first for the device — all in a body just 5.4mm thin. Apple says the display reaches up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, more than twice the previous model, with deeper blacks and richer colours, while the A20 Pro delivers up to 4.5 times faster AI performance than the last mini.

The new iPad mini starts at $699 for the Wi-Fi model and $849 for Wi-Fi plus Cellular, with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage options in Midnight and Starlight finishes. Pre-orders open on Wednesday, October 28, and the tablet reaches stores on Friday, November 6. A matching TechWoven Smart Folio costs $79. The upgrade also brings Wi-Fi 7, a landscape 12MP Center Stage camera and a nano-texture glass option, making the compact tablet a much stronger choice for reading, sketching and watching video on the go.
