Arch Manning Transfer Rumors 2027: Analysts Say Texas Star Could Leave for Georgia or Ole Miss

Arch Manning transfer rumors for 2027 have become the hottest topic in American college football, after a roller-coaster season at Texas turned the preseason Heisman favourite into the sport's biggest talking point. Former ESPN analyst David Pollack said this weekend that, unless things turn around dramatically, Manning will not be back with the Longhorns in 2027, adding that an SEC head coach told him he would be shocked if Manning did not end up at Georgia. Texas are 5-2 after beating No. 7 Ole Miss, but back-to-back 27-24 defeats to Oklahoma and Florida, with costly late turnovers, have fuelled the speculation.

Other voices have gone further. ESPN's Dan Orlovsky argued Manning should not jump to the NFL yet but should transfer to a programme that develops him better as a quarterback, criticising head coach Steve Sarkisian's offence for asking Manning to simply throw to set spots rather than play the position freely. Meanwhile, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that a person connected to Manning answered 'Ole Miss' when asked where he could land next season, a link strengthened by the fact that his grandfather Archie and uncle Eli both starred for the Rebels.

Not everyone is convinced he will go. Sports Illustrated's verdict is that Manning likely stays put, pointing to his years in Sarkisian's system, his huge platform at Texas and the chance to write a redemption story with a strong finish to the season. For now, no transfer decision has been reported by Manning himself, and the rumours remain analyst opinion, not fact. But with the 2027 NFL Draft and the transfer portal both in play, every Texas game from here will be watched as a clue to his future.
