Asim Munir in Peshawar: Army Chief Vows to 'Hit Them Hard Wherever They Are'

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan's Chief of Defence Forces, visited the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar on Friday, where he vowed that the campaign against Indian-sponsored terrorist outfits would continue 'to the fullest' - promising to 'hit them hard wherever they are.'

According to the ISPR, the army chief was briefed on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management and the operational readiness of the troops. He paid rich tributes to the Shuhada and Ghazis, and said that with the support of the people, Pakistan would 'inflict total defeat' on terrorists and their ideology.

The visit came a day after an apex committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Peshawar, as the federal government continues to run Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under governor's rule. The visit underlined the military leadership's focus on the province, where militant violence has been rising - September 2026 recorded the highest monthly militant attacks in 12 years. Security officials say intelligence-based operations will continue across the province until the threat is fully neutralized.
