Bangladesh's hopes of reaching the final of the Afghanistan tri-nation series are hanging by a thread after they were bowled out for just 160 by Afghanistan in a must-win clash at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Bangladesh slumped to 28 for four inside the powerplay as Afghanistan's pace attack tore through the top order. Parvez Hossain Emon fought back with a combative 70 off 96 balls and Saif Hassan added a patient 41, but leg-spinner Rashid Khan ripped through the lower order with four wickets for 31 runs to end the innings in 41.2 overs.

To qualify for Friday's final ahead of Zimbabwe on net run rate, Bangladesh must now bowl Afghanistan out for under 120 — winning by at least 41 runs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz returned to the side after missing the Zimbabwe defeat with fever, while regular captain Litton Das remains out of the series after failing a fitness test.
