Bitcoin Price Today: BTC Holds Near $80,000 as Markets Brace for Fed Decision and Big Tech Earnings

Bitcoin starts the week holding near $80,000 after a quiet weekend close, with traders looking ahead to a packed few days of central bank and earnings news. The world's largest cryptocurrency ended Sunday at $80,019, down 0.8 percent on the day after trading between $79,812 and $80,904, while Ether closed at $2,326. The total crypto market stood at $2.64 trillion, with most of the top 50 coins slipping and TON the standout gainer, up more than 40 percent.
The cautious mood matches Wall Street, where Friday's session ended lower: the S&P 500 fell 0.52 percent to 7,623.68, the Nasdaq slipped 0.21 percent to 25,955.34 and the Dow dropped 1.23 percent to 52,215.16. Both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq have now fallen two weeks in a row, and investors are watching whether heavy spending on artificial intelligence by big technology companies will turn into matching profits.
This week brings the answers. The US Federal Reserve is expected to hold interest rates steady in the 3.5 to 3.75 percent range at its meeting on Wednesday, while Meta, Microsoft and Tesla all report earnings the same day and Apple follows on Thursday. With more than 90 S&P 500 companies due to report, traders say the next few days could set the tone for markets into November.
