Celtics vs Knicks Final Score 107-103: Tatum's 25-Point Second Half Sinks New York

Jayson Tatum

Jayson Tatum scored 25 of his 36 points after halftime as the Boston Celtics beat the defending champion New York Knicks 107-103 in a thriller at TD Garden on Friday night.

Tatum shot 14-of-26 from the field and added 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals, taking over down the stretch. His three-pointer with 30 seconds left put Boston up 106-100; after Miles McBride answered with a three to make it 106-103, Payton Pritchard split free throws to seal it, and Jalen Brunson missed both of his free throws with three seconds to go.

The Knicks fell to 0-2 on the season despite 22 points and 10 rebounds from Karl-Anthony Towns, 20 points and 10 boards from OG Anunoby, and 20 off the bench from McBride. The Celtics improved to 1-1 in the headliner of Prime Video's Friday doubleheader, the latest chapter in one of the NBA's oldest rivalries.
