Celtics vs Nets 125-124: Jayson Tatum Hits Game-Winner in Overtime Thriller

Jayson Tatum hit the game-winning shot in the final second of overtime as the Boston Celtics survived a huge scare against the winless Brooklyn Nets, escaping with a 125-124 victory at TD Garden on Tuesday night. Tatum finished with 40 points and 8 assists, rescuing Boston after the visitors had forced overtime on the very last play of regulation.

Rookie Mikel Brown Jr. was the hero for Brooklyn for most of the night, scoring 16 points across the fourth quarter and overtime, including a corner fadeaway that tied the game at 117 with just 0.2 seconds left on the clock. The Nets, who entered the game 0-3, outplayed Boston for long stretches, with Julius Randle scoring the first four points of overtime and Michael Porter Jr. hitting big threes to keep the visitors in front.

Boston looked in trouble after a cold shooting night from deep, but Tatum took over when it mattered most, drilling a foul-line jumper in the dying second of the extra period to seal the win. Paul George added 20 points and Derrick White 16 for the Celtics, who next host the Chicago Bulls on Friday night in their first NBA Cup group game.
