ChatGPT Ads Expand to Nigeria and 25 More Countries as OpenAI Reaches 89 Markets

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT advertising to Nigeria and 25 other countries, bringing the total number of markets where the ads run to 89, the company announced on Monday, 26 October.
The expansion lets businesses reach consumers while they explore products inside ChatGPT, and OpenAI says the advertising supports its free and lower-cost service options. Ads appear only on the ChatGPT Free and Go plans, are clearly labelled, and are kept distinct from the chatbot's answers. OpenAI says it does not sell customer data to advertisers, and its paid Plus, Pro and Enterprise tiers remain entirely ad-free.
Businesses can run campaigns with a minimum daily budget of 25 dollars, around 33,275 Nigerian naira at current exchange rates. ChatGPT advertising was first introduced in February 2026, and the rollout has steadily widened since then as OpenAI looks for ways to keep its most popular tiers affordable. The Nigeria launch is the latest step in that strategy, giving local businesses a new channel to reach customers at the moment they are researching what to buy, while keeping the core chatbot experience free for millions of users.
