Field Marshal Munir Vows to Hit 'Indian-Sponsored' Terror Groups Hard 'Wherever They Are'

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan's chief of army staff and chief of defence forces, vowed on Friday that the military's campaign against terrorist groups would continue with full force, saying militants would be "hit hard wherever they are." He made the remarks during a visit to the Peshawar Corps headquarters, where he was briefed on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ongoing counterterrorism operations and border management measures.
In a statement issued by the military's media wing ISPR, Munir commended the morale and professionalism of the troops and directed them to stay vigilant against emerging threats. He described the groups being targeted as Indian-sponsored outfits and paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistani people, including the martyrs (Shuhada) and veterans (Ghazis) of the security forces.
Munir expressed confidence that with the continued support of the people, Pakistan would inflict "total defeat" on the terrorists and their ideology. The visit came a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an apex committee meeting in Peshawar to review security and governance in the province, amid emergency measures imposed in 12 districts.
