Fuel Price Protests Spread Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as JI Launches Third Phase

Jamaat-e-Islami has launched the third phase of its countrywide protest campaign against rising petroleum prices and what it calls an unfair petroleum levy, holding sit-ins, rallies and public meetings across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The demonstrations were organised on the instructions of JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, with party leaders saying the protests will continue until the government withdraws the levy and eases the burden on ordinary citizens.

In Peshawar, a sit-in was held at Hashtnagri Chowk, while demonstrators gathered outside the Press Club in Mardan and at Shobra Chowk in Nowshera. Rallies were also held in Swabi and Khyber, and a public gathering took place at Farooq Azam Chowk in Charsadda, with district and provincial party leaders leading the events in each area.

The protests come as households across Pakistan feel the pressure of high fuel costs, which push up transport fares and the prices of everyday goods. JI leaders say the levy hits the poorest hardest, and the party has vowed to keep up the street campaign until the government offers real relief.
