Geely Launches in Pakistan With Three Electric Models

Chinese carmaker Geely Auto has officially launched in Pakistan, with Bestway Group unveiling the brand on Saturday and taking over the former Proton plant at Port Qasim in Karachi for local assembly.
Bestway Automotive, Geely's sole authorised distributor in the country, will handle sales and after-sales service. Group managing director Irfan Sheikh said the company would focus on localisation and build a charging network to support its long-term presence in the market. The launch line-up covers three models: the EX2 compact electric hatchback, the EX5 electric SUV, and the Starray EM-i, which uses range-extended electric technology.
Bestway said it has invested more than $350 million in Pakistan and created 20,000 jobs over the past three years. Geely Auto International vice president Evin Ye said Pakistan is the carmaker's first market in South Asia, adding that Geely is the only automaker with its own low-orbit satellite network. The launch adds a major new name to Pakistan's fast-growing electric vehicle market.
