Gold Hits Rs440,636 Per Tola in Pakistan as Safe-Haven Rush Continues

Gold prices in Pakistan held at record-high territory on October 19, with the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association quoting 24-karat gold at Rs440,636 per tola and Rs377,774 per 10 grams.

The 22-karat variety was priced at Rs403,700 per tola, while 21-karat gold stood at Rs385,350 per tola. Silver also traded firmly at Rs6,752 per tola and Rs5,787 per 10 grams.

The local surge mirrors a global safe-haven rush: international gold hit a record $4,379.96 an ounce on Friday, capping its biggest weekly gain since 2020, while silver also touched an all-time high. Geopolitical tensions, the oil price shock, banking-sector stress and rising bets on Federal Reserve rate cuts have all pushed investors toward precious metals.

For Pakistani savers, gold has once again proven its role as the go-to hedge in uncertain times — even as high prices put jewelry purchases further out of reach for ordinary buyers.
