Google Announces Three New Subsea Cables From India in $15 Billion AI Infrastructure Push

Google has announced America-India Connect, a major infrastructure initiative that will create three new subsea cable paths from India to Singapore, South Africa and Australia, along with four strategic fibre-optic routes linking the United States, India and multiple locations across the Southern Hemisphere. The announcement was made at the AI Impact Summit on Monday, 26 October.
The project is anchored by Google's five-year, $15 billion artificial intelligence infrastructure investment in India, and it aims to establish a new international subsea gateway in the port city of Visakhapatnam. The new routes are designed to give India faster, more resilient connections to the rest of the world as demand for AI services keeps growing.
Subsea cables carry the vast majority of the world's intercontinental internet traffic, so new routes matter far beyond faster video streaming: they decide how quickly AI models, cloud services and businesses in India can reach users and data centres on other continents. The announcement underlines how central India has become to the global AI build-out, with the country now attracting some of the largest infrastructure bets in the technology industry.
