Google Gemini Can Now Read Your Gmail and Calendar While You Drive

Google has started rolling out 'Personal Intelligence' for Gemini on Android Auto, letting the AI assistant read your Gmail and Calendar while you drive - turning your car into a truly smart co-pilot.

With opt-in permission, Gemini can pull from Gmail, Google Calendar, Photos, Maps, YouTube and Search to answer voice questions on the road. Google's examples: ask 'What's my flight gate? And is my flight on time?' while heading to the airport, say 'Take me to my doctor's appointment,' or even 'Find the car wash from the photo I took last week.'

The feature began rolling out on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and stays off by default until you enable it in Gemini settings. Cars with Google built in - from brands like Ford, GM, Honda, Nissan, Volvo and Polestar - will get it in the coming months, though your phone must be connected. There are limits: it's for personal Google accounts only, users must be 18 or older, and it's not available for business, enterprise or education accounts - or in the EEA, Switzerland, the UK and Nigeria.
