Google Launches Gemini 4 Carbon, Its New AI Model Built for Cybersecurity

Google has unveiled Gemini 4 Carbon, its latest frontier artificial intelligence model, designed to take on complex cybersecurity and coding work. Announced on Wednesday, October 28, the model arrives just two weeks after Google introduced Gemini 4 Argon, as the company steps up its contest with OpenAI and Anthropic for the most capable AI systems.

Google says Carbon delivers state-of-the-art performance across cybersecurity tasks including finding software vulnerabilities, testing exploits and writing patches. On internal benchmarks, it generates secure code at more than twice the success rate of Gemini 4 Argon, and it is built to handle long, complicated engineering jobs that run over extended periods.

For now, Carbon is not open to everyone. Google is making it available first to a subset of cybersecurity defenders through its Fairwind Program while it continues testing safeguards. The model is priced at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, matching Gemini 4 Argon's introductory pricing, as Google bets that security-focused AI becomes one of its biggest enterprise markets.
