GTA VI Pre-Orders Hit Estimated $630 Million With One Month to Launch

Grand Theft Auto VI is still a month away from release, but players have already spent an estimated $630 million on pre-orders. According to Sensor Tower's GTA VI Sales Tracker, updated on October 20, digital pre-orders have reached 6.45 million copies across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S ahead of the November 19 launch.
PlayStation dominates the early demand with about 4.80 million pre-orders — roughly $468 million in estimated consumer spending, or a 74% share. Xbox accounts for 1.66 million copies worth around $162 million. The figures cover digital purchases only, net of returns, and exclude physical pre-orders. They are third-party estimates rather than official sales figures from Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
The numbers hint at another record-breaking launch for the franchise. When GTA V released in September 2013, it generated more than $800 million in worldwide retail sales within its first 24 hours. With several weeks of pre-orders still to go — and physical copies excluded from Sensor Tower's count — total launch demand for GTA VI could be considerably higher. Rockstar has yet to announce a PC release date, leaving PC gamers waiting for news on when they can explore Vice City and the state of Leonida.
