India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I: Abhishek Sharma's 35-Ball Century Seals Series in Wellington

Abhishek Sharma smashed a 35-ball century as India thrashed New Zealand by six wickets in the third T20I in Wellington on Tuesday, sealing the five-match series with two games to spare. Chasing 199, India romped home in just 13.2 overs, with Abhishek finishing on 113 off only 38 balls in one of the most destructive innings in T20 international history.
The opener narrowly missed his own record of a 30-ball century, set against Afghanistan in Delhi last month, but still rewrote the record books alongside 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The pair scored 118 runs in the powerplay, the highest team total ever in the first six overs of a men's T20I, beating Romania's 116 against Serbia in 2021. They added 133 for the first wicket before Sooryavanshi fell for 45 off 19 balls.
New Zealand's 198 for 3 had looked competitive, with Daryl Mitchell unbeaten on 89, but their bowlers had no answer once Abhishek got going. Even a dropped catch on 92, when captain Mitchell Santner misjudged the ball in Wellington's swirling wind, could not save the hosts. The series now moves to Auckland for the fourth match on Friday, with India holding an unassailable 3-0 lead.
