Tottenham Hotspur players battle Coventry City in the Premier League

James Maddison made a fairytale return to Tottenham's starting line-up on Monday night, scoring a spectacular early goal as Spurs beat Coventry City 3-1 to finally claim their first Premier League win of the season — and their first league victory in 17 months. Dejan Kulusevski also returned to the matchday squad after missing the entire last season.

On a feel-good night in London, Maddison marked his first start in 17 months with a wonder strike before Coventry's Jack Rudoni levelled early in the second half. Spurs were back in front just before the hour mark when Omar Marmoush lashed home his first goal for the club, and substitute Ben Davies made the points safe in added time. "I just wanted to play well, I just wanted to show my qualities," Maddison told Sky Sports. "I'm 29, I've still got plenty of years left, and I know I have quality that can really help us."
