Malaysia vs Pakistan Final Score: Hosts Win Sultan of Johor Cup 4-3 on Penalties After 2-2 Draw

Hosts Malaysia have won the Sultan of Johor Cup 2026, beating Pakistan 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out after a thrilling final finished 2-2 at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Bahru on Saturday. Pakistan looked set for the title after racing into a 2-0 lead, with Rana scoring from a penalty corner in the 19th minute and Usman adding a field goal in the 23rd minute.

But the unbeaten hosts fought back in front of their home crowd, with Johari pulling one back from a penalty corner in the 25th minute and Gunaseelan levelling from another penalty corner in the 49th minute. With nothing to separate the sides after regulation time, the final went to a shoot-out, where Malaysia held their nerve to win 4-3 and lift the trophy.

It was a second win over Pakistan in the tournament for the Young Tigers, who had edged the group meeting 3-2 earlier in the week. Pakistan had reached the final on goals scored after a 2-2 draw with Japan, and despite the shoot-out heartbreak, the young side's run to the final marks another encouraging chapter for Pakistan hockey.
