Maldives President Lands in Islamabad for Historic Three-Day State Visit

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for a three-day state visit — the first by a Maldivian head of state to Pakistan in 11 years. He and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed were accorded a 21-gun salute on arrival at Islamabad International Airport, where federal ministers received the delegation.
The visit, undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, runs from October 20 to 22 and coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, established on July 26, 1966. Muizzu will meet President Asif Ali Zardari, who will host a state banquet in his honour, and hold restricted and delegation-level talks with the prime minister.
The two sides are expected to sign around a dozen agreements and memorandums of understanding covering trade, investment, health, education, tourism, climate change, defence and maritime security, with discussions also planned on direct air links and a Pakistan–Maldives Business Forum. Officials said the leaders will review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international developments. Source: read more
