Man Utd Thrashed 3-0 by Bournemouth as Liverpool Beat Brighton 2-0 to Climb to Fourth

Manchester United's miserable Premier League season hit a new low on Sunday as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Bournemouth, increasing the pressure on manager Michael Carrick. Captain Bruno Fernandes was left out of the starting line-up after criticising Carrick's tactics following the midweek Champions League defeat to Como, and Bournemouth took full advantage, scoring through Rayan and Marcus Tavernier before Evanilson added a third in the second half.
The defeat leaves United 16th in the table, just one point above the relegation zone, and still without a league win since August 30. Liverpool had a far better afternoon, beating Brighton 2-0 at Anfield for their first home league victory of the season. Pascal Gross turned a Florian Wirtz effort into his own net before Alexander Isak doubled the lead four minutes later, lifting Liverpool up to fourth while Manchester City remain top despite Saturday's defeat to Aston Villa.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Newcastle beat Crystal Palace thanks to goals from Osula and Barnes, while Brentford rescued a draw at Hull. The results complete a dramatic Matchday 8 in which Arsenal drew level with City at the top on Saturday, and the pressure now shifts firmly onto United ahead of next weekend's fixtures.
