Missiles Strike Kyiv in Early-Hours Attack After Evening Strike Injured Six
Missiles struck Ukraine's capital Kyiv in the early hours of Thursday, a Reuters witness said, in another attack on the city that came just hours after a Russian evening air strike injured six people and damaged homes, a petrol station and transport equipment.
The strikes hit as US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff held talks this week with both Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russia's President Vladimir Putin in a renewed push to end the conflict that began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
In Russia, in the city of Lipetsk — home to a major steel plant about 400 km south of Moscow — a man was injured as drones hit apartment buildings and a medical facility, governor Igor Artamonov said on Telegram.
The back-to-back attacks on Kyiv underscore how the war's toll on civilians continues to rise even as diplomatic efforts gather pace. Neither side has commented publicly on the overnight strikes, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
