Netherlands Pledges €1.2 Billion for Ukraine Reconstruction as Zelenskiy Visits The Hague

The Netherlands will give Ukraine €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion) in non-military support over the next three years, the Dutch government announced on Wednesday, just hours before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in The Hague. Zelenskiy was due to meet Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten and other cabinet members on Wednesday afternoon, followed by a visit to King Willem-Alexander.

The package breaks down as €380 million for reconstruction in Ukraine next year, and around €410 million in each of 2028 and 2029. Part of the money will go into funds that support Dutch companies willing to invest in rebuilding Ukraine, while other support is earmarked for urgent repairs to Ukraine's energy infrastructure and for supplying machines to Ukrainian industry.

The pledge comes as Kyiv faces a growing funding squeeze, with European Commission forecasts warning that Ukraine's non-EU allies have so far committed far less for next year than in 2026. For the Netherlands, the announcement pairs a concrete financial commitment with a high-profile visit — a signal, officials say, that Dutch support for Ukraine's recovery will continue well beyond the current fighting.
