Oracle and OpenAI Bring Business Workflows to ChatGPT With New AI Workspace

Oracle and OpenAI have expanded their partnership to bring business software directly into ChatGPT, announcing Oracle AI Workspace at Oracle AI World in Las Vegas on 27 October. Through ChatGPT plugins, employees will be able to find company information and complete approved business workflows across Oracle's Fusion Applications, NetSuite, AI Database and cloud infrastructure, without jumping between separate systems.

In OpenAI's example, a new finance team member could use ChatGPT to investigate costs, understand purchasing decisions and check what remains before the month-end close, pulling together finance, procurement and planning data in one conversation. Oracle says the experience will follow each organisation's permissions and business rules, with human review where required — so being able to look up an expense does not automatically mean being able to approve or change it. The full Workspace experience is still under development, although individual Oracle plugins are already listed for installation.

The wider package also includes Oracle AI Security Mesh, which uses OpenAI cyber models to find and fix vulnerabilities across cloud and on-premises systems, and Oracle App Composer, which lets staff build applications with the help of OpenAI's Codex coding tool. A small-business bundle offers ChatGPT Business, Codex, App Composer and cloud services plus $12,000 a year in Oracle cloud credits. For businesses already running on Oracle, the pitch is simple: AI that works inside the tools they already use, rather than as yet another separate app.
