Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Are 'One Soul in Two Bodies,' Says Speaker Ayaz Sadiq
National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has described Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as 'one soul in two bodies' as he reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to its historic and strategic relationship with the Kingdom. He made the remarks in Islamabad on Tuesday during a meeting with the newly appointed Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Rajeh bin Tami Albugami, at Parliament House, congratulating him on his appointment and expressing hope that his tenure would open new avenues of cooperation.
Ayaz Sadiq said the relationship between the two countries rests on shared religion, brotherhood, mutual trust and longstanding affection, and goes beyond diplomacy to reflect deep bonds between the two peoples. Reaffirming Pakistan's support for Saudi Arabia's security, sovereignty and territorial integrity, he said the Kingdom's security was inseparable from Pakistan's own, and condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
The speaker also praised the Mecca Accord as an important step towards regional peace, stability and harmony, and called for stronger parliamentary engagement through exchanges of delegations and institutional linkages. Ambassador Albugami thanked the speaker for the warm welcome, saying the close ties between the two countries reflected mutual trust, shared values and enduring friendship, and appreciated Pakistan's role in promoting peace in the region.
