Pakistan Foils BLA Attack in Gwadar, Three Militants Killed, Minister Says

Pakistani security forces foiled an attempted attack on an unoccupied construction company camp in the coastal city of Gwadar on Thursday, killing three militants in a counterterrorism operation, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said. The attackers were affiliated with the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which Pakistani authorities refer to as Fitna al-Hindustan, though that claim has not been independently verified.
Naqvi praised the security forces for what he called a timely response, saying their action prevented the attackers from carrying out their planned assault on the vacant camp. Three senior government officials told BBC Urdu that attacks were reported at three locations across Gwadar district on Thursday evening: the government construction company's camp near Gwadar city, Suntser, and the Gabd-Rimdan border crossing with Iran, locally known as the 250 border.
In a separate development, security forces launched another operation against suspected militants hiding inside a hotel near the Gwadar Highway, with four suspects reported surrounded as clearance operations continued. The General Officer Commanding in Gwadar was personally supervising the ongoing operations, according to security sources.
The disturbances raise fresh concerns about a possible wider militant operation in the strategic coastal region, which hosts the China-backed Gwadar port — the flagship of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
