Pakistan LPG Relief Policy Coming Within Days as Rs11.047 Trillion Tax Exemptions Disclosed

Pakistan's government has told the National Assembly that an LPG relief policy will be finalised within days, as households wait for clarity on cooking-gas prices heading into winter. The petroleum minister gave the assurance during a session on October 26, though the relief policy itself had not been published at the time of reporting.

In the same session, the Finance Ministry disclosed Rs11.047 trillion in tax exemptions in its reply to the house. The figure drew attention because it arrived alongside the LPG announcement, with lawmakers pressing for details on who benefits from the exemptions and what relief ordinary gas users will actually see.

Two caveats matter for readers. The oil and gas regulator, OGRA, has not yet notified a November LPG price, so no new consumer price can be confirmed from this announcement alone. And the National Assembly session was suspended for want of quorum on October 26 before adjourning to 11am on October 27, meaning the parliamentary record may still move today. Watch for the published policy text and the OGRA notification for the numbers that will actually apply at the pump and the kitchen.
