Pakistan Overtake Australia to Claim Fourth Spot in ICC ODI Rankings
Pakistan have climbed to fourth place in the ICC Men's ODI team rankings, overtaking Australia after back-to-back victories in the ongoing ODI tri-series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The International Cricket Council announced the updated standings on Wednesday.
Pakistan now hold 103 rating points, one place above Australia, who slipped to fifth with 102 points. South Africa sit third with 104, New Zealand are second on 109, and India remain top of the table with 115 points.
The rise follows Pakistan's emphatic 87-run victory over England on Tuesday, their second straight win of the tournament after beating Sri Lanka by 37 runs in the opener. All-rounder Arafat Minhas starred against England with 59 off 58 balls before taking career-best figures of 6 for 40. Hasan Nawaz top-scored with 79 off 74 deliveries as Pakistan posted 302 for 9, before bowling England out for 215.
Captain Shaheen Afridi's side will look to strengthen their position further as the tri-series continues, with England facing Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
