Pakistan Pitches Tech Partnership to US Firms at 'Pakistan-US Tech Connect 2026' in Washington

Pakistan's embassy in Washington hosted "Pakistan-US Tech Connect 2026" on October 22, where Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh urged both countries to pivot their partnership from traditional security concerns toward technology and innovation.
The executive networking forum brought together 16 leading Pakistani technology companies with American counterparts, showcasing expertise in artificial intelligence, fintech and cloud computing. The event was organised with Pakistan's Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN) Global, and the Pakistan Software Export Board.
Sindh Governor Syed Nehal Hashmi attended alongside US technology firms and Pakistani-American business leaders. Speakers stressed moving beyond routine IT outsourcing toward building proprietary intellectual property and scalable product companies.
The push comes as Pakistan looks to grow its IT exports and reframe its relationship with Washington around trade and technology rather than counterterrorism. For the country's young tech workforce — one of the largest freelance communities in the world — deeper US partnerships could mean more investment, joint ventures and global market access.
