Pakistan will not defend its title at the Over-50 Cricket World Cup 2027 in India after the federal government refused to grant the veterans' team permission to travel.

Fawad Ijaz Khan, chairman of the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, announced the withdrawal on October 20, saying the association respected the government's decision. He added that Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi had personally informed them that clearance would not be granted.

The tournament is scheduled for January 23 to February 7, 2027, in Hyderabad (Deccan), India. Pakistan entered as defending champions, making the withdrawal a significant blow to the event.

The decision comes amid deepening cricket tensions between the two countries. India refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, leading to a hybrid arrangement for the 2024–2027 cycle under which neither side tours the other. Pakistan played its T20 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka earlier this year under the same formula.
