Pakistan Tri-Series Squad Change: Sufiyan Muqeem Released, Maaz Sadaqat Added as Cover

Pakistan have tweaked their squad for the ongoing ODI tri-series, releasing left-arm wrist-spinner Sufiyan Muqeem and calling up left-handed batter Maaz Sadaqat as cover. The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed the change in a press release, saying Sufiyan would return to domestic cricket after the decision was taken with the nature of Lahore's pitches in mind.
Sufiyan did not play in either of Pakistan's first two matches of the tournament, though he featured in the preceding T20I series against Sri Lanka. The 24-year-old has played four ODIs, taking eight wickets, and 22 T20Is with 30 wickets to his name. Sadaqat, meanwhile, has been added as cover for players carrying minor niggles and could step into the playing XI if needed.
The left-hander has played six ODIs since debuting against Bangladesh earlier this year, scoring 134 runs including a half-century, plus five T20Is at a strike rate of 170.37. Pakistan remain unbeaten in the tri-series after wins over England and Sri Lanka, and the updated squad - led by captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and featuring Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan and Naseem Shah - will look to carry that momentum through the Lahore leg and into the final.
