Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar and Indonesia to Sign Defence Industry Pact in Doha

Turkey, Qatar, Pakistan and Indonesia are preparing to sign a defence industry memorandum of understanding in Doha, Turkey's Defense Industry Agency (SSB) announced on Tuesday. The agreement would bring the four Muslim-majority nations into a formal framework for cooperation in military manufacturing and defence technology.

Such memorandums typically open the door to joint production projects, technology transfers and coordinated procurement — areas where Pakistan and Turkey already work closely together, from naval ships to fighter-jet upgrades. The announcement places Pakistan at the centre of a widening regional defence network at a time of rising tensions in the Middle East.

No details of the MoU's specific projects have been disclosed yet, and a signing date in Doha has not been confirmed. Analysts say the pact signals a push by all four countries to reduce reliance on Western arms suppliers and build a shared industrial base. The move is likely to draw close attention from rival powers watching the shifting balance in the region.
