Pakistan U19 Squad Leaves for Oman to Defend Asia Cup Title

Pakistan's Under-19 cricket squad departed for Oman on Thursday to defend its ACC U19 Men's Asia Cup title, with the eight-team continental tournament set to run from November 5 to 14. The squad posed for a team photograph in Karachi before flying out, carrying the confidence of a side that has already proved itself against strong opposition this year.

Defending champions Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside the United Arab Emirates, India and Nepal. They open their campaign against the UAE on November 5 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman, before the blockbuster group clash with traditional rivals India on November 8 and their final group fixture against Nepal on November 10. All three group matches will start at 10am Pakistan time, with the semi-finals scheduled for November 12 and the final for November 14.

Farhan Yousuf will captain the 15-player squad, which features wicketkeeper-batters Abdul Qadir and Hamza Zahoor, batters Usman Khan, Hayam Khan, Jahangir Bilal and Huzaifa Ahsan, and a pace attack led by Abdul Subhan, Mohammad Seyam, Ali Raza and Rizwanullah. Only Ali Raza and Huzaifa Ahsan were not part of the Pakistan U19 side that beat England 3-1 in a four-match youth ODI series in September. Pakistan won the previous edition in the United Arab Emirates in style, thrashing India by 191 runs in a one-sided final at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai — a standard this young side will now be expected to match.
