Palmeiras vs Fluminense Ends 0-0: Palmeiras Reach Copa Libertadores Final on 2-1 Aggregate

Allianz Parque stadium, Sao Paulo

Palmeiras are through to the Copa Libertadores final after a tense 0-0 draw with Fluminense in the second leg of their all-Brazilian semifinal at Nubank Parque in São Paulo on Wednesday night.

The goalless stalemate was enough for the home side, who won the first leg 2-1 at Rio's Maracana on October 14 through goals from José Manuel López and Marlon Freitas, with Wesley Natã's stoppage-time header keeping Fluminense's hopes alive.

Fluminense needed to win by two goals to advance outright under CONMEBOL's rules, with the away-goals tiebreaker abolished in 2022 — a one-goal win would have forced penalties. But Palmeiras' disciplined defensive shape held firm, and the visitors could not break through in 96 minutes.

The victory sends Palmeiras to the final on November 28 at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay. They will face the winner of the other semifinal between defending champions Flamengo and Argentina's Estudiantes — the only non-Brazilian side left in the tournament. Brazilian clubs have now won the continent's top prize in seven straight editions since River Plate's 2018 triumph.
