PCB Plans 'PSL Sixes': New Six-a-Side T20 League to Take Cricket to Smaller Pakistani Cities

The Pakistan Cricket Board is planning a new six-a-side T20 tournament — tentatively called "PSL Sixes" — modelled on the Hong Kong Sixes and aimed at taking top-level cricket to smaller cities the main PSL has never reached. The plan was reported by News18 on October 23, amid the ongoing Pakistan–Sri Lanka–England ODI tri-series.
PCB chief executive Salman Naseer said nothing is final yet, "but there are some exciting plans. One of those is a tournament called the PSL sixes, which will be played in the off-season." The idea is to stage matches in smaller stadiums and towns: "The fans over there are eager to watch cricket, and conducting a smaller event might be feasible," Naseer said. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi is said to back the league as a way to raise revenue and improve fan engagement.
Six-a-side cricket is a short, high-energy format — each innings lasts roughly five overs — built for viral highlight clips and casual viewers. The Hong Kong Sixes has run for 34 years, and Pakistan have won it a record six times, so the PCB is betting the country's fans will embrace a home-grown version. If approved, it would be a first-of-its-kind franchise property for Pakistan cricket.
