Peshawar ATC Issues Arrest Warrants for Sohail Afridi and Four Others in Radio Pakistan Attack Case

An anti-terrorism court in Peshawar has issued arrest warrants for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Sohail Afridi and four other PTI leaders in the Radio Pakistan attack case. Judge Wali Mohammad Khan ordered the warrants under Section 204 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after police presented a supplementary charge-sheet naming the five men, who were not cited in the original FIR or charge-sheet.
The others named are former provincial ministers Taimoor Saleem Jhagra and Kamran Bangash, PTI Peshawar district president Irfan Saleem, and party activist Amir Khan Chamkani. According to reports of the proceedings, Radio Pakistan Peshawar station director Tufail Ahmad recorded a supplementary statement identifying the suspects after forensic findings, and the Punjab Forensic Science Agency and Nadra evaluated video clips and profile pictures before concluding that facial features and identification details matched.
The case relates to the attack on the Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar during the violent protests that followed the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan on May 9, 2023. PTI figures have contested the authenticity of the recordings, arguing they do not show the events of that day. The court adjourned the case until November 4. An arrest warrant is a procedural step in the case and does not by itself establish guilt.
