Petr Yan Retains Bantamweight Title With Unanimous Decision Win Over Dvalishvili in UFC 333 Trilogy

Petr Yan retained his bantamweight title at UFC 333 on Saturday, October 24, beating Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision in their trilogy fight at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. All three judges scored the five-round fight 48-47 for Yan.

The win gave Yan back-to-back victories over Dvalishvili after he reclaimed the belt from the Georgian at UFC 323 last December. Dvalishvili had won the first meeting between the two in March 2023, but Yan has now won the rivalry's decisive third chapter, surviving Dvalishvili's trademark relentless pace before taking control midway through the fight.

"Give me Song Yadong, give me King Kong! Give me anybody! Just make the weight, and I will take you down," Yan said through an interpreter in his post-fight interview, calling out China's Song Yadong as his next challenger. Elsewhere on the main card, England's Lone'er Kavanagh stopped Ramazan Temirov by TKO in the first round, Alexander Volkov beat Rizvan Kuniev by unanimous decision, and Aaron Pico knocked out Losene Keita in just 74 seconds. On the prelims, Dominick Reyes knocked out Azamat Murzakanov with a head kick in the first round. The Abu Dhabi card was headlined by the featherweight title fight between champion Alexander Volkanovski and unbeaten challenger Movsar Evloev.
