PM Shehbaz Pushes Export-Based Industries for Growth in Meeting With Lahore Business Leaders
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to further strengthen export-based industries, saying they are central to robust economic growth and long-term financial stability. He made the point during a high-level meeting in Lahore on October 25 with the leadership of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), led by its president Ali Hussam Asghar.
The discussion focused on promoting trade, addressing industrial challenges and making it easier for the business community to operate. A dedicated committee has been set up to review the chamber's proposals and turn them into an actionable implementation plan, so that the meeting's ideas do not stay on paper. The government says it remains committed to working with the private sector to generate employment and expand trade volume.
The prime minister emphasised that close cooperation between the government and the business community is essential to building a business-friendly climate. For exporters, that means clearer support for industrial growth and a more competitive environment in which Pakistani goods can reach world markets. The meeting forms part of a broader economic roadmap aimed at long-term stability, with export-led growth presented as the route to jobs, foreign earnings and a stronger national economy.
