Premier League Standings: Man City and Arsenal Level on 21 Points After 8 Games

Manchester City and Arsenal are level on 21 points at the top of the Premier League standings after eight games, with City ahead only on goal difference. Both sides have won seven and lost one, but they have reached the summit in very different ways: City have scored 20 goals and conceded nine, while Arsenal have scored 13 and conceded just five.
Brighton sit third on 16 points, five behind the leaders, followed by Liverpool on 15 and Chelsea on 13. The gap already looks significant after only eight rounds, though it is far too early to call it a two-horse race — the chasing pack has plenty of season left to close it, and the next round of fixtures could shift the picture quickly.
That next round is a big one. City host Brighton on Saturday, 31 October, while Arsenal travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday, 1 November, at 4:30pm GMT. Arsenal will go into that match knowing City's result, which adds extra spice to a weekend that could leave one of the two leaders alone at the top — or drag Liverpool right back into the title fight.
