PSG Beat Lyon 2-0 to Go Top of Ligue 1 as Godts Scores First Goal

Paris Saint-Germain climbed to the top of Ligue 1 on Monday night, beating Lyon 2-0 at the Parc des Princes thanks to two late goals from substitutes. Senny Mayulu broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute before Mika Godts, the Belgian winger signed from Ajax, sealed the win with his first goal for the club in the 84th minute.
The result lifts the reigning European champions to 17 points from eight matches, one clear of Rennes, while Lyon — who would have gone top with a win — stay fifth on 14 points. It was PSG's fifth straight league win and eighth victory in a row in all competitions, achieved despite a long injury list that includes Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who faces months out with a knee ligament injury.
Lyon threatened in the first half through Julien Duranville and Zachary Athekame, but goalkeeper Matvey Safonov held firm before coach Luis Enrique's bench changed the game. Godts set up Mayulu's opener and then finished the second himself after being released by Quentin Ndjantou. PSG next travel to Le Havre on Friday, while Lyon host Angers.
