PSG Sink Barcelona 4-2 in Champions League Thriller as Injury Crisis Deepens

Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-2 in a six-goal Champions League classic at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday, handing the Spanish giants their first defeat of the season. Desire Doue curled home the opener in the 38th minute before 19-year-old Barcelona full-back Xavi Espart levelled shortly after half-time.

Lucas Hernandez headed PSG back in front, only for Lamine Yamal to equalise again at 2-2. Late strikes from Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz in the 86th minute finally settled a breathless contest between two of Europe's strongest sides. Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Manchester City thrashed AEK Athens 5-1 with Phil Foden in red-hot form, while Liverpool fought back from 2-0 down to beat Villarreal 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller at Anfield.

The win came at a heavy cost for PSG. Reigning Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele limped off with an apparent hamstring injury in the 20th minute, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos were both forced off in the second half. All three are finalists for this year's Ballon d'Or, which is handed out next week — a worrying sight for the back-to-back European champions.
