PSG vs Lyon: PSG Beat Lyon 2-0 to Go Top of Ligue 1 Standings

Paris Saint-Germain beat Olympique Lyon 2-0 at the Parc des Princes on Monday, October 26, to move into sole possession of first place in Ligue 1. Two second-half substitutes changed the game: Senny Mayulu broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute, and Mika Godts sealed the win in the 84th minute. The victory lifts PSG to 17 points after eight matches, while Lyon stay on 14.

The first half was tight, with both goalkeepers busy. Matvei Safonov denied Lyon chances from Julien Duranville and Zachary Athekame, while Dominik Greif kept Lyon in the match against wave after wave of PSG attacks. PSG controlled 68 percent of possession and had 17 shots to Lyon's eight, but needed Luis Enrique's substitutions to finally break through. PSG won despite missing key players including Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with Achraf Hakimi captaining the side.

Before kickoff, both teams had 14 points, so the winner was always going to take the top spot alone. PSG now lead the title race, but with several teams bunched close behind, the fight for the French championship is far from over. Lyon, meanwhile, will look to bounce back quickly and stay in the hunt at the top of the table.
