Sarina Wiegman Signs New England Deal Through Euro 2029
Sarina Wiegman isn't going anywhere. The England women's head coach has signed a two-year contract extension with the Football Association, keeping her in charge of the Lionesses through to the end of Euro 2029, the FA announced on Monday.
The 56-year-old Dutchwoman's previous deal was set to expire after next summer's World Cup. Instead, she now has the chance to chase a third straight European title after delivering England's first major trophy at Euro 2022 and defending it in 2025, plus a runners-up finish at the 2023 World Cup. A record five-time FIFA Best Women's Coach winner, she has reached five consecutive major tournament finals, including Euro 2017 with her native Netherlands.
"I'm so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football," Wiegman said. Her immediate focus is qualifying for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil — England face Ukraine over two legs on November 26 and December 5 for a place at the finals.
