Saudi Coalition Strikes Houthi Missile Sites After Fresh Attack on Riyadh Airport

The Saudi-led military coalition has struck Houthi missile launchers and storage facilities in Yemen, a day after explosions rattled the Saudi capital and residents received text warnings about a hostile aerial threat to Riyadh.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said on Monday that the operation destroyed four ballistic missile launchers, a missile depot and tunnels used by the Houthis, who control a large part of Yemen. He said the strikes were focused on cutting off the group's supply lines between areas under its control. Air defences also intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched toward Riyadh, he said.

The Houthis, meanwhile, claimed a fresh attack on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport, with military spokesman Yahya Saree saying the group had struck the target with precision, and that it had also hit oil pumping stations with drones. The airport reopened and flights resumed on Sunday after a closure of nearly two weeks, with the Houthis warning travellers to avoid the facility, calling it a military target. The group has carried out waves of strikes on the airport, including an attack earlier this month that killed 13 people and wounded more than 300, the deadliest in the kingdom in more than a decade. As the exchanges intensified, US President Donald Trump said Washington would not strike Iran on Monday, while keeping future military options open.
