Seven Killed as Car Plunges Into Ravine in Murree After Wedding

Rescue scene after the Murree road accident (The Destination)

At least seven people were killed after a car plunged into a ravine and caught fire on Barhoha Link Road in Murree, rescue officials said on Monday. The victims included three children and two women, and all seven died at the scene because the crash was so severe.

Seven other passengers were injured and were shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi for treatment. The injured include children aged between one and a half and 17 years, along with two adults. Rescue teams reached the spot quickly and carried out relief operations at the scene.

Officials said 14 members of the same family were travelling in the vehicle. They were returning from a nearby village after attending a wedding when the car went off the road, plunged into the ravine and caught fire. Further details about the circumstances surrounding the accident are still awaited, and rescue officials have not yet said what caused the vehicle to leave the road. The tragedy is a grim reminder of how dangerous mountain roads around Murree can be, especially on narrow link roads with steep drops.
