Shehbaz Announces Rs160 Billion Development Package for KP

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday announced a Rs160 billion development package for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Federal Apex Committee meeting held at the Governor's House in Peshawar. Around 70 percent of the funds — roughly Rs112 billion — will go to the merged tribal districts, while the remaining 30 percent covers the rest of the province. The meeting was attended by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and senior federal ministers.

The package includes Danish schools in Bajaur, Lakki Marwat and Chitral, plus a technical institute in Dera Ismail Khan. The prime minister defended emergency measures in the province as constitutional steps forced by the law-and-order situation, accused the previous PTI government of "criminal negligence" toward KP's development, and claimed over Rs800 billion had been given to the province under the NFC award since 2010. He also flagged alleged irregularities in a Rs100 billion drinking water project and a Rs37 billion Kohistan corruption case, vowing that terrorism would be crushed with full state force.
