The Sindh cabinet has ordered the public release of the judicial commission's report into the death of 25-year-old Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali — a document that tears apart the police investigation in extraordinary terms. Chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday, the cabinet directed that the report be uploaded to the Home Department's website and a copy handed to the grieving family.

The single-member commission, headed by Sindh High Court judge Justice Omar Sial, concluded the young entrepreneur was murdered — citing a fatal bullet wound from behind and traces of acid on the body. It described the police probe as an "epic failure," calling the handling of the case "like a rudderless ship" and the investigation "negligent to criminally negligent," while noting that an active cover-up in the early stages could not be ruled out.

The report recommends a DIG-led multi-agency investigation team and asks the FIA to probe officers found negligent. To push implementation, the cabinet formed a sub-committee led by Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar. The move follows months of pressure from Mir Raza's father, who demanded a fresh probe alongside his lawyer, advocate Jibran Nasir.
