Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan to Visit Islamabad on October 30

Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, will undertake an official visit to Islamabad on Friday, 30 October, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The visit carries added weight because it coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore, and comes ahead of Singapore's assumption of the ASEAN chairmanship in 2027.

During the visit, Dar and Balakrishnan will hold bilateral talks covering the full range of Pakistan-Singapore relations, and exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest. The talks will be accompanied by the exchange of a memorandum of understanding on disaster management cooperation, to be signed between Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority and Singapore's Civil Defence Force. Balakrishnan will also call on Pakistan's leadership during his stay.

Pakistan and Singapore maintain cordial relations anchored in mutual respect and longstanding friendship. Officials say the visit underscores a joint commitment to deepen and diversify the partnership, with disaster preparedness, trade and regional cooperation all on the agenda as the two countries mark six decades of ties.
